Yamaha Enters New Market With Debut Of CD-R & CD-RW Media

- High-Quality 100% Certified Media Complements Line of CD-R & CD-RW Drives-

BUENA PARK, Calif., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- In a move which will strengthen the company's position as a leader in the CD Recordable and CD ReWritable recorder markets, Yamaha Corporation of America's Consumer Products Division will now offer high-quality, 100% certified media to complement its full line of CD-R/CD-RW drives.

Yamaha has selected to only offer the highest grade CD Recording and ReWriting media to the marketplace in an attempt to help eliminate performance issues caused by sub-par media products available in the market to unsuspecting users. The two new products will be the CDR74M810, a 10-pack, 8X certified CD-R disc package; and the CDRW74M43, a 3-pack, 4X certified CD-RW disc package. Both packages will have an estimated street price of $24.95 and will be available in early August 1999.

"Yamaha has already established itself as a leading player in the CD-R/CD- RW markets," said Henio Arcangeli, Jr., vice president/general manager, Consumer Products Division, Yamaha Corporation of America. "It's only a natural development for us to offer top quality, 100% certified media to accompany our industry-benchmark recorders.
