-- In a move which will strengthen the company's position as a
leader in the CD Recordable and CD ReWritable recorder markets,
Yamaha Corporation of America's Consumer Products Division will
now offer high-quality, 100% certified media to complement its
full line of CD-R/CD-RW drives.
Yamaha has selected to only offer
the highest grade CD Recording and ReWriting media to the
marketplace in an attempt to help eliminate performance issues
caused by sub-par media products available in the market to
unsuspecting users. The two new products will be the CDR74M810, a
10-pack, 8X certified CD-R disc package; and the CDRW74M43, a
3-pack, 4X certified CD-RW disc package. Both packages will have
an estimated street price of $24.95 and will be available in early
August 1999.

Yamaha CD-R (CD Recordable Discs)
-- Yamaha CD-R discs are available in the most popular format -- the
10-pack.
-- Each disc is individually jewel-cased and shrink-wrapped in a
full-color sleeve.
-- The discs are certified for 8X recording, which is not widely
available, and are completely compatible with 1X through 8X recording.
-- 100% compatibility with all Yamaha CD-R and CD-RW drives and other fine
CD Recorders or ReWriters.
-- Metal Azo dye layer for maximum data reliability and long life.
-- Average expected data life of greater than 100 years.
-- Extra protective layer to fully guard the reflective layer.

-- Lowest jitter rating of 22ns (500 DOW times) in the industry.

-- Very low BLER (Block Error Rate) of 7 (after 2,000 hours of
use) versus industry average of 15.

Yamaha CD-R (write-once) discs are
ideal for distribution and compact archival storage of large files
such as photographs, digital images and presentations as well as
high quality audio and video clips which do not need to be
updated. Typical CD-R applications include: archival file storage,
audio CD recording, compiling songs on a CD, distribution of large
files, MP3 music downloading, multimedia presentations, photo
storage, record keeping, software back-up, writing and recording
music.
Yamaha CD-RW (ReWritable) discs
are ideal for applications which require updating of existing
files such as ongoing projects, work files and weekly backups.
Typical CD-RW applications include: MP3 music downloading, floppy
disk replacement, hard disk back-up, software authoring and
development, and as supplement to hard drive.
