Pioneer Offers End-User Savings to DVD-R Customers

Current Drive Purchases Provide More Than $500 in Free Media

LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 22, 2000--Pioneer New Media Technologies Inc., a leading manufacturer of DVD technology- based products for industrial applications, Tuesday announced aggressive end-user promotions to purchasers of its 4.7GB DVD-Recordable drive and media.

Customers in the United States and Canada who purchase Pioneer's award-winning DVD-Recordable drive (DVR-S201) between Feb. 1-April 1 will receive 10 pieces of Pioneer DVD-R media (3.95GB or 4.7GB) free, valued at a total savings of $375. During the same time, for every 10 pieces of Pioneer's DVD-R media purchased, customers will receive an additional disc free, a $40 value.

Customers automatically receive three pieces of free DVD-R media and pre-mastering software with their original purchase of a DVD-R drive. The new promotion extends that offer to an additional 10 pieces for a total value of more than $500.

"Pioneer made a commitment several years ago to make DVD technology a valuable tool to the industrial market," said Paul Dempsey, executive vice president, sales and marketing for Pioneer's Optical Division Products. "Now we are making a commitment to provide added value to our line of products through offers which reward our end-user customers."

To participate in the promotion, customers must mail or fax a copy of the invoice to Pioneer New Media Technologies, Optical Division Marketing Department, 2265 E. 220th St., Long Beach, Calif. 90810, fax 310/952-2990 or 310/952-2100. Pioneer is a founding company of the DVD Forum and co-chair of the Working Group dedicated to DVD-Recordable development. In 1997, Pioneer introduced the industry's first 3.95GB DVD-Recordable drive, followed by the DVR-S201 last April, offering up to 4.7GB of write-once recording to disc.

DVD-R technology is used widely in the video and multimedia industries for testing and developing DVD applications and titles, as well as for distribution of DVD content. With its increased capacity it becomes an ideal medium for data intensive storage in vertical markets such as medical imaging and document management. It is currently available at an MSRP of $5,400.

In addition, Pioneer offers a full-line of DVD-Recordable media including 3.95GB and 4.7GB non-printable, as well as the industry's only available printable media (3.95GB).
